It may seem far to early to be thinking about next season's hosiery, but the launch of DKNY's new collaboration with the stylist of Gossip Girl is a date worth bookmarking in your diary.
Eric Daman, who is the man behind Blake Lively and Leighton Meester's on-screen looks, has created a line of tights and over-the-knee stockings for the brand's fall collection.
The eight-piece range will feature myriad patterns and textures including jacquard, floral and polka dots.

Legwear like Lively: Gossip Girl's costume designer, Eric Daman, has created a line of tights for DKNY
Mr Daman, 40, told WWD that DKNY was a natural partner for him, as he had used the label so much on Gossip Girl.
He said: 'I feel like I grew up with legwear in the Seventies and Eighties, and it’s great to see legwear being part of a woman’s ensemble, a defining piece of women’s ready-to-wear.
'Tights have really become part of a woman’s wardrobe.

The thigh's the limit: The line also includes over-the-knee stockings in different textures and prints

Good foundations: The stylist said that legwear was an important part of a woman's wardrobe

'Hosiery is quite sexy. What we try to do in Gossip Girl is lots of texture. It makes the characters come alive… It gives a character like Blair life when she’s wearing a pencil skirt with distressed rib tights. It gives her look something special.'
While the designer couldn't promise that the legwear would make the wearer's legs look like those of Blake Lively, he added that fans could get the look by layering over-the-knee stockings with an opaque tight, or nude hosiery beneath a textured, patterned tight.

Organic: Mr Daman said DKNY was a natural partner, as he had used the label so much on Gossip Girl

Mr Daman said he did now know if his designs would feature on a future episode of the show though.
'If it’s apropos and works organically with the show, I will [feature the tights],' he added.
The packaging will be unique to the collaboration, referencing New York City with illustrations by artist Dallas Shaw.
This is not the first time Mr Daman has collaborated with a label.
Earlier this year he created a line of prom dresses for budget brand Charlotte Russe.
The costume designer, who began his career as a model and once worked alongside Kate Moss, is often consulted by the writers of Gossip Girl for ideas.
He said in an interview with the New York Post: 'The styling and the clothes is the coat of arms that enable the actors to become the characters.'
The Eric Daman for DKNY collection, which will be priced from $15 to $24, is due to go on sale in the U.S. this month at Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom and DKNY boutiques, as well as dkny.com.
